Before I began with PROTRADE United my business was not performing to its potential. We had poor financial results and little directional focus.

I started off as a subbie, so it was just me and 2 other guys. About 3 years ago I decided to move into contracting on my own. It’s taken a lot of bloody sweat and tears but it’s the sort of work we want to do.

DJS plumbing& Gas is a small business operating throughout Brisbane mainly focusing on maintenance work. We’ve been trying to expand the business and ensure it is sustainable.

Like many small businesses It started in a room under the house. I pulled in my wife to help with the books and we were both facing steep learning curves with me learning the business side electrically and my wife learning the finance side.

I’ve been around the building industry most my life. My old man was in it and I used to work with him a lot. I decided very quickly that I wanted to expand my knowledge and have an impact on peoples lives.

Before working with PROTRADE United, business and life was one big struggle, heading in the wrong direction. I felt alone with nowhere to go to help manage the struggle of business and life. I pretended everything was okay without facing the reality.

Before working with PROTRADE United business is best described as winging it! We were all over the place, not quite knowing where we were heading or even if we would succeed.

Before starting with PROTRADE United I (David) was in a very negative mindset. I wasn’t quite sure whether our business would succeed and it was impacting our marriage.

Before starting with PROTRADE United we knew we had a good business with great ideas yet were too busy to implement them.

Before joining PROTRADE United I was less organised, had little procedure in place and had the wrong staff. I knew that if I wanted to grow my business and I needed help with implementing procedures. I needed direction and certainly needed new staff.

Before I joined PROTRADE United I had no clue how to operate a business. Now that I am more aware, I can see a common theme of frustration, confusion and challenges that I hear from trade businesses that have not seeked further education.

Prior to working with PROTRADE United, business was unorganised, stressful, too much work and not enough family time, never ending demands, and I had no pride in my business.

Before I began working with PROTRADE United, I felt like my business was out of control. It was like a ship without a captain, and I had really no idea how out of control it was! There was no structure, guys were just coming and going, money was going in and out, and I was just getting by.

Before starting with PROTRADE United I was very labour oriented spending 6 to 7 days on the tools, with limited income, and no clear plan. I needed clarity and direction and was sick of winging it as a business owner.

Our business prior to PROTRADE was stressful a lot of the time with inconsistencies in cashflow & profit and a feeling of loneliness in business and not knowing where to turn to for the assistance we really needed.

Matt has always been proactive in seeking ways he can improve his business. Around 3 years ago he downloaded a webinar that PROTRADE United CEO Jon Mailer hosted, and then continued to receive updates from PROTRADE. He gained a lot of confidence from this communication.

Peter Started with PROTRADE United after chatting with Andrew Reilly from Wire-Not Electrical, another member of the community. Peter joined PROTRADE United to create a better business, and implement strong systems while increasing his cashflow.
